Darstellung:

FACE A: Within a rectangular frame are two kneeling figures wearing the Crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt, the one on the left is shown in the traditional pose of adoration (Hall 1913: No. 42; Matouk 1971: 210 No. 310-311; Hornung/Staehelin 1976: no. 326), the one on the right is in a strange pose; it reminds the prisoners with the hands tied to their back (Sichem: Horn 1962: 13 fig. 2,37; Matouk 1977: 400 No. 1525-1526); the hands are in front, however, and not bound (it is a pose of selfrestraint, typical for prayer); the two figures are flanking a cartouche with the name Mn-ḫpr-r˓, the prenomen of Tuthmosis III (cf. Keel 1995: § 634, 650, 663; for two kings with Red Crowns flanking a cartouche with Mn-ḫpr-r˓ see Desroches-Noblecourt 1950: 266 fig. 10; this scarab is Louvre E 2035, dark blue¬green frit, 21,4 x 12,9 x 10,3 mm; it should be dated to the 25th Dyn. [B. Jaeger]; the same is true of Louvre AF 10143, Steatite, green glaze, 19 x 14 x 9,8 mm, two kneeling kings with Red Crowns flanking in adoration a cartouche with Mn-ḫpr-r˓; the stylization of the figures is very close to the piece under discussion; above the cartouche is the barque of Amun with the sun-disk [Keel 1995: § 644, 645, 646]; for two kneeling kings flanking an obelisk inscribed with Mn-ḫpr-r˓ see Hall 1913 No. 1463 and Jaeger 1982: 283 note 70). FACE B: A (raised) relief (Keel 1995: § 324) of jnt, the Nile fish Tilapia nilotica Linné, or bulṭīin Arabic (cf. Keel 1995: § 151; for the jnt on late period seal-amulets see Megiddo: Lamon/Shipton 1939: pl. 67,2; Brunton 1948: pl. 63,127; Matthiae Scandone 1975: 61f No. E23 Tav. XV E23; Giveon 1978: 106 Abb. 57a).
