 21. Dyn.-Frühe 22. Dyn. (1075-900) (due to the shape of the item, its engraving technique and iconography).

Herkunft:

 Beerscheba, Locus 619; Stratum 2, Nr. 6165/50; late 8th century BCE.

Darstellung:

 Two animals, one standing above the other; the lower one has only three legs and short tail; the one above has a longer tail, four legs, and the head and its horn are part of the framing line; the animal seem to be caprids; two animals, usually lions, one above the other, are often found on seals of the post-ramesside mass produced seals; cf. Keel 1997b: Afek Nr. 41; Keel 1997b: Akko Nr. 91 with parallels; sometimes a lion above a caprid is shown; cf. Tel Masos: Fritz/Kempinski 1983: 105; pl. 107,2 and pl. 170,3. The decoration on the ‚handle‘ clearly shows a lion striding to the right with its tail raised; cf. Keel 1997b: Achsib Nr. 15; Tel Rekesh: Zori 1977: 117 pl. 31,2 (2nd row, 2nd from the left).
