Darstellung:

The upper and lower exergues are occupied by a clump of three papyrus plants, which grows on a strip of land, the symbol of Lower Egypt (Keel 1995: § 432); the lower motif is rendered upside down; two such clumps of three papyrus plants appear on Keel 2010: Bet-Mirsim Nr. 23; see there for further parallels; in the center between the two papyrus plants is a stylized and symmetric cross-shaped floral motif; the vertical „leaves“ are thicker and decorated by hatching; the horizontal ones are thinner and plain; at their center is a small and disconnected circle (Keel 1995: § 494); cf. Keel 2010: Bet-Mirsim Nr. 71 with parallels; connected to the central circle are four spirals ending in double-ringed concentric circles with a dot (Keel 1995: § 492); in the MB IIB the spirals are usually turned to the vertical „leaves“; cf. Keel 1997b: Tell el-˓Aǧul Nr. 633; Tufnell 1984: pl. 23,2016-2019; spirals turned towards the horizontal leave as shown here is rather typical of the 18th dynasty; cf. Keel 1997b: Tell el-˓Aǧul Nr. 121, 185, 275, 547, Keel 2010: Bet-Schean Nr. 81; Keel 2010: Bet-Schemesch Nr. 177: Keel 2010a: Tell el-Far˓a-Süd Nr. 135: local.
